A friend and I got inspired to set up a series of Saturday cooking classes to help while away the winter months. This afternoon was Class #1: Basic Bread Making, taught by yours truly.

A fine, floury time was had by all, I think.

Next up: Aloo parathas in 2 weeks.

Upon our return to Ulaanbaatar this evening, we were greeted by two shining (life-size) ice warriors at the entrance of our apartment complex. No doubt they will be completely safe (from melting) for many months to come...

I'm not 100% sure what this stuff is, but the women in the open air lobby were roasting a mixture over a slow-heat fire and filling up these cones for sale. I'm pretty sure it's roasted/toasted coconut.

Didn't try it, but they were sure pretty to look at...
