Earth Day "rolled around" again, and it was time for Geometry class to re-design the earth. There was great groaning about how impossible this assignment was but since I have seen students succeed before with this project, I remained undeterred. Despite all the complaining, this year's crop of globes were lovely!

This is a busy time of the school year, and as the end of the year approaches, the days just seem to disappear. But now more than ever I have been feeling the need to do something creative. Thanks to C, I had a new pattern to work with and some fun new "ice cream" fabric. It's so much FUN to make things!

On our way out to dinner tonight, Frank stopped to show me a patch of black irises that he'd found on a recent run. Black irises are the Jordanian national flower--rare and lovely to see.

Spring in Jordan means weather of all kinds. Kind of like Mongolia. Even the dust storms are familiar. This afternoon the wind gusted, the sun was white like the moon, and the sky was the color of dirty dish water. Soon enough Frank will be asking "Where did all these dust bunnies come from?" as he starts the next round of sweeping...

Frank finished the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon this afternoon around mid-day. It was a long haul (50K!) from Amman's 8th circle to the Amman Beach Club down at the Dead Sea, but he did it. Go, Frankie!

The copy room got a new copy machine this week, and that's when I saw my opportunity: play house! Getting the darn box home to the apartment was the biggest challenge (super sturdy cardboard is heavy stuff...), but then the fun began. Windows, door, chimney, curtains!
